


John has been on the Education Committee since his appointment to the governing body in 2005, and he also now serves on the Executive Committee. An entomologist, his qualifications include a London University BSc in zoology and chemistry and an MPhil form the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Public Health and Public Hygiene. A Chartered Biologist and a Member of the Institute of Biology, his business experience is extensive. He been a senior sales, marketing and general management executive with extensive international business and people management experience gained within multinational blue chip companies and private organisations in both European and international environments, in the course of which he has spent extensive time abroad. His experience includes change management, mergers and acquisitions, as well as fund raising for small and medium enterprises in both the private and public sector, with a focus on technology transfer. He has especial experience of talking with and guiding scientists on matters relating to business development. He is also a published scientific author with journal and review articles. Married to Atsuko, John is a member of the Southampton Primary Care Trust Forum (CPPIH) and is an EU-accredited adjudicator to The Marie Curie Foundation.
